Pancreatitis and Its TCM Treatment

Pancreatitis is the inflammation of pancreas, which is important in secreting it’s digestive enzymes aiding breaking down of polymeric macromolecules of food into basic building blocs, such as amino acid or fatty acid, glycerol and carbohydrate. Pancreas is the only organ in human body that is both endocrine and exocrine. It releases hormones such as somatostatin and secretin, and enzymes such as Amylase, lipase, esterase to break down food. The inflammation effects pancreas functions of breaking down bigger molecules into smaller unit which body can absorb and utilize. Therefore, creating, pain, radiating pain, vomit,diarrhea, pain right after eating or foul smell stools. It is very important that food we eat to be broken down because large molecules is not able to be absorbed by the body to extract nutrients to nourish and generate energy or repair damages or regenerate dead tissues.
