As our life style changes so much according to the advancing of technology, more and more of us are suffering #stroke and it's sequelae, such as #loss of balance, #aphasia, #aphagia, and of course #hemiplegia. I have experiences treating aphagia successfully using acupuncture. A patient got a stroke back in Feb. 2017, as a consequences he can not swallow saliva. Not only swallowing saliva, aphagia is a more serious sequela. Lacking solid food makes a patient's body recover slowly. Within half a year of the on-set, patients have higher rate of recovery and therefore, treating his aphagia to me is my primary concern. I used Ren 23 and 2 points lateral to it, SJ 17, GB 20 to treat aphagia. In less than 20 minutes, his drooling stopped right in front of his friends who are firm disbelievers of oriental medicine. I expected this and just wanted to awe them. Fast enough, the needles resisted gravity and gave in. Soon after I pulled out the needles, he started drooling again. Therefore, keeping up the program is crucial in treating #post-stroke sequelae. There will be very high chance of this particular patient to recover from #post-stroke aphagia should they follow the treatment plan religiously. I am hoping to see it happen to him.
